Comfort and gratitude in uncertain times.
Mark Wright • 3 April 2020
I've been quiet on my social platforms the past 2-3 weeks. I've kept my peace while I take time to consider what is happening in the world around us right now and how things might look when we come out on the other side of COVID-19. Outside of the worry and concern for family, friends and the vulnerable, this really is a fascinating time to behold how our society is changing and adapting to the circumstances around us and watching those who come to the forefront and show wisdom and poise in testing times.
Professionally I'm sure I'm not the only one struggling to find work (of any kind) to fill not only the financial void but also the void of being busy, of feeling like you have self-worth in the work you do and your contribution to whatever your wider whole looks like - tidying the garage and the loft hasn't quite scratched that itch for me!
I'm not sure what my own working landscape will look like as the months roll on but I'm determined to look forward with positivity and excited to discuss proposals for future opportunities (whatever those might end up being) when this is all over.
Right now, while I'm frustrated at not being able to earn a living, the flip-side is the quality time being spent with the family - I can't remember the last time we were consistently all under the same roof for this amount of time...its lovely to have and for that I am full of gratitude; I know there will be others who are not as fortunate and my heart goes out to those struggling through the lockdown alone. Thankfully the fact that through technology we can all choose how connected we want to be to others in these trying times is hopefully delivering some solace to those who need it.
So, I hope that you are all well and keeping safe, and while for many of us the immediate future may look uncertain I hope you have been able to find comfort wherever you can - even if that is in gratitude for the things we may have taken for granted only a few short weeks ago.
